By wanting to destroy Western civilization and life as we know it, left-wing enviro types are actually working against their own interests, one columnist writes.
Let’s say the greenies were successful in their campaigns to stop all pipeline construction in North America and shut down oilsands mining.
What would be the result?
Alberta would lose its economic engine. Canada would lose the resource revenues that help to pay for our precious social programs. Ironically, energy firms and governments would lose profits they need to help develop the very same sources of renewable energy environmentalists are clamouring for.
Shutting off this particular supply of energy would not in itself make alternative means of energy production any cheaper. All the while, the price of energy could rise, putting a pinch on the average family’s already stretched budgets.
All this suggests that the enviro types don’t really care about those – environmental – issues. Their only overriding goal is the destruction of Western civilization; the actual environment and the development of affordable and efficient sources of renewable energy be damned.
Proof that they only use the environment as a cover to spread their diseased and flawed left-wing ideology.
