Want to re-elect Obama? Vote for Gingrich!

More and more Republicans are coming to a painful realization: if Newt Gingrich ends up being the “chosen one” to do battle with Barack Obama this fall, Obama will win.

The Republican establishment is mobilizing heavily against Gingrich, as the mantra “Vote for Obama – Vote for Newt” is increasingly gaining ground.

Indeed, Obama must be rubbing his hands with glee and anticipation.

Unlike, say, Mitt Romney, Gingrich isn’t in the business of building the biggest support base possible. He tends to antagonize people, especially swing and independent voters.

His various “romantic dalliances” will also come to bite him in his (considerable) derriere once the election fight comes down to the wire. After all, candidates and incumbents have been brought down over much less than that, especially in perpetually-moralizing America.
